WHERE: MORNING STAR LAKE AND CAMP GROUND (Near Forest Hill)
Directions: Take I-80 past Auburn to Foresthill Road Exit. 17 mi. to Foresthill. From Valero Gas Station continue straight 9.5 mi. Turn left at Sugar Pine Recreation Area sign. Look for Morning Star Lake listed on directional signs plus dive flag signs to keep you on the correct route. Proceed 3.5 mi. & turn right at the Reservoir/Morning Star sign. Stay on pavement until road becomes gravel and continue .5 mi. until your reach the entrance to Morning Star Camp Ground where you will be charged a nominal fee to enter. You won't be able to miss the big SWS sign down at the end of the camping area on the lake.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 AM Altitude Class in the water. Call SWS at 916-332-8294 to register and get details.
11:00 AM TO 12:00
noon is GAME REGISTRATION. You must bring your own gear.
(You can rent anything you need at SWS if you pay &
reserve in advance.) You must show Diver Certification Card
& sign a release waiver in order to participate in the
underwater games. Please notify SWS ahead of time if you
will be competing in the games. We need to know how many
prizes to bring!!
12:00 NOON to 3:00 PM LET
THE GAMES BEGIN!
3:30 PM to 4:30 PM AWARDS CEREMONY
12:00 noon to 4:30 PM Picnic and BBQ underway while the games are going on and after.
WHAT: This is an Altitude Dive (4500') - no current, max
depth approx. 35', visibility 20', water temp. 70 - 75 degrees.

SNORKEL TRIATHLON : Test your free diving skills
COMPASS MARATHON : Test your naviagation skills
SALVAGE DIVEATHON : Help clean any debri left in the lake over the summer

Bring your camera, your boat, your kids, your swim/snorkel/dive
gear; bring your non-diving family members & friends
to enjoy the BBQ/Beach/Lake & cheer you on to victory
in the Underwater Olympic Games...There will be plenty of
fun for everyone. Sorry, no dogs allowed.
Bring your own eats & BBQ stuff, plus your favorite
dish to share. (Softdrinks/water will be provided by SWS).
If you would like to camp out at Morning Star Lake campground
for the weekend & meet us for the event on Sunday, call
1-530-367-2129 for information & to reserve your campsite. For questions concerning whether or not you can bring your pet or any other questions concerning what you are allowed to bring up to Morning Star, please call them during the week prior to the event for current information regarding Morning Star Lake policy which varies year to year depending on fire restrictions, etc.
The SWS Underwater Olympics & BBQ has become a SWS tradition. thake this opportunity to try out your new SWS dive gear & to practice your underwater skills while helping to clean up one of our area lakes. Get your gills wet wit the SWS dive staff & crew. It is a fun way to show we appreciate our local recreational water resources. Although SWS does not charge a fee for this event, we encourage you to make a donation at the event site to PADI's Project Aware Foundation and DAN (Divers Alert Network). At the end of the year, SWS matches the total contribution amount and sends checks to both organizations.
Note: Every person attending this event, before going in the water, must have a completed Liability Release and Assumption of Risk for Underwater/Coastal Clean-Up form on file with the Scuba World Sacramento event coordinator. To expedite this process, you can access this waiver form here, print it out, print your name, sign and date the form and fax it to SWS at 916-338-0277 or bring it with you to turn in to the coordinator at the event:
