The following information is designed to help you determine
the cost and time commitment required to learn how to SCUBA
dive. SWS provides you with the TOTAL cost up front so you
don’t get sucked into the store by a low figure only
to find you are required to purchase products or services
once into the course that you were not made aware of

OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION COURSE TUITION STARTING
AS LOW AS $179.00
The course includes academics, skill practice in confined
water and actual scuba diving in open water, all under the
guidance of a PADI Instructor. Confined water training options
may include group or private instruction. Your open water
training dives might be conducted locally, on a group dive
tour or at a vacation destination of your choice. The course
offers tremendous flexibility. However you choose to complete
it, you’ll have fun learning to safely, comfortably
explore the underwater world. Virtually anyone in good health
who’s reasonably fit and comfortable in the water can
learn to scuba dive. Participants as young as twelve may take
the course, but other than that, there are few restrictions.

want to share it with friends and family

Cost = $179.00 (Price subject to change without notice.)
Class
size limited to 12 students, with average size of classes
being 5 to 6 students.
Includes:
1) Five Classroom Sessions
2) Five Pool Sessions with free use
of Tanks, Regulator, BCD (buoyancy control device), Wetsuit,
Hood & Weight-belt
3) Four Open
Water Dives (**Usually in Monterey Bay).
Additional Costs:
Basic Equipment: You must own your own personal Dive Mask,
Snorkel, Dive Fins, Booties & Dive Gloves. SWS has student
basic equipment packages for as low as $199.00+ tax on up depending on choice of fin type. This gives you the best value for the lowest cost. Comfort and fit of
equipment should determine your choice in basic equipment,
however, not price.
Certification Requirements:
Course Materials from $69.00+tax. PADI Certification Card
= $35.00+tax. PADI requires you to purchase a class Video or DVD. Upon completion of the class, you will receive a full refund for your class Video or DVD if you return it to SWS.
Equipment Rental For the Open Water
Dives:
Tanks, Regulator, BCD, Wetsuit, Hood, Weight-belt & Compass. Student Rate = $75.00+tax for the entire week-end!
Open Water Session Travel Expenses:
Lodging for one week-end in Monterey, CA can be very expensive.
Currently, SWS has obtained a special student rate at one of the local motels in Monterey. Ask Andy for the current rate or make your own overnight motel or camping arrangements. You will be responsible for your own Dining Expense, Parking Fees (Approximately
$10) and Air Fills (Approximately $12).
Monthly Course Schedules:
Each
Course begins with an hour of orientation usually scheduled
on Wednesday night at 6 PM lasting approximately one hour,
nine days prior to your first classroom session. During the
orientation you will fill out health forms, pick up your study
materials to work on at home at your leisure, and get any
last minute questions you may have answered. Currently, SWS
is offering Week-End Courses that begin either Friday evening
or Saturday morning at discretion of the instructor and run
through Sunday. In either case you will spend approximately
16 hours divided between the classroom and the pool over that
week- end. The following week-end you will complete your open
water requirement diving with your instructor, usually in
Monterey Bay.
* SWS offers private instruction and special scheduling. The
cost for this special service is determined upon evaluation
of the request.
** SWS Open Water Dive Referrals to Warm-Water Destinations
(Hawaii, Caribbean, etc.) are available and cost is for the
course instruction, materials and basic equipment only (no
scuba equipment rental or travel cost).
