Particulars:

Where:      All trips depart from and return to H & M Landing,

2803 Emerson St., San Diego, CA 92106 - A short 5 minute taxi ride from the San Diego Airport.

What's Included:  Live-aboard **dorm accommodation, Up to 5 boat dives per day.

Food, , Sodas, House Coffee, Tea, Airfills, Tanks and Weights.

What's NOT Included: Your transportation to and from San Diego.  Crew Gratuity and possible fuel surcharge is collected on board.  Come prepared to dive as there is NO gear available on board to rent.  7mm wetsuit is recommended.  Bring your own TOWEL and toiletries.   

Options available at additional cost:

1. SWS will transport your bags for you:  additional $ 10 each way.

2. **Cabin upgrade: additional $15 per person per day, 2 person minimum, limited availability.

3. On board you can purchase Beer and Wine, Specialty Coffees and Nitrox Fills. 

 

Note 1:  California Fishing License and an Ocean Enhancement Stamp are required in order to hunt lobster or spear fish.  Fishing Licenses can be purchased at neighborhood sporting goods stores and other retailers.

Note 2:  Starting in Fall 2008, persons fishing for or taking spiny lobster must have a Spiny Lobster Report Card which can be purchased at a sporting goods store and other locations.  The purpose of the new reporting requirement is to monitor the recreational catch, effort and gear used in the recreational spiny lobster fishery.  Regulations require that prior to beginning fishing activity the cardholder must record the month, day, location, and gear code on the first available line on the report card.  Lifetime fishing license holders and persons fishing on free fishing days must also possess a spiny lobster report card to take, or try to take, spiny lobster.

Note 6:  SWS acts only as an organizer and expediter of dive travel for the sole purpose of offering a service to SWS customers.  SWS DOES NOT SELL DIVER ACCIDENT INSURANCE NOR DO WE SELL TRIP INSURANCE.  As a service to our SWS customers we inform you of insurance opportunities and recommend you purchase coverage for any of our SWS sponsored dive trips.

 

SWS Trip Payment Requirements:  Cash or Check payment method preferred.  A 3% service fee will be added to any payment made with a Credit Card.  Only Visa and MasterCard accepted.  Final payment must be into SWS 30 days prior to departure date or your reservation will be cancelled. 

Cancellation Policy:  In the event that you need to cancel a trip that you have booked, we will do our best to fill your spot. Scuba World Sacramento will, however, collect a $200 cancellation fee per person even if we are able to fill your vacated spot. All refunded monies will be credited to your in-store account.

If we are unable to fill your spot on the trip, all money paid toward the trip will be forfeited.

Scuba World Sacramento Chartered Horizon trips are scheduled during prime season, giving you the best opportunity to experience and see just what Southern California diving has to offer.

Did you know that some of the best diving we have seen anywhere is off the coast of Southern California?  No fifteen-hour flight days, No passports, No Immigration or Customs hassles!  We, on the West Coast are so fortunate to have this dive destination right in our own back yard.  Join us on our chartered short, live-aboard dive trips which are perfect for those of you who have difficulty getting time off to go diving.  Andy likens the Horizon experience to "valet serviced camping on the water for adults". 

You make your own round-trip travel arrangements to San Diego.  We recommend to ensure you off-gas properly before flying home, make your return flight reservation on the latest flight possible out of San Diego on the night of our return to port.  Or, to be extra safe, overnight at a motel close to where we dock and fly out the next morning.  An option is Point Loma Inn 1-800-571-2933, a block from H & M Landing.  Ask for Vickie and mention you are with the Scuba World group on the Horizon.  You can check out the motel on their website: http://www.pointlomainnsd.com/ .  The airport is a short 5 minute taxi ride to the port.  If you don't want to lug your gear on the plane, SWS will haul it down and back for you.  Scuba World Sacramento has been chartering the Horizon live-aboard for many years now and it is still the best!  The quality of service and the food aboard the Horizon is outstanding.

Channel Island diving has been called California's underwater Galapagos.    The underwater kelp forests, mountain ranges and marine life you see diving the Channel Islands and Cortes Bank is breathtaking.  This is Pacific Coast, cold-water diving.  A 7mm wet suit or dry suit is recommended to ensure underwater comfort in these waters.  Water temperatures range only slightly lower than what you would find diving in the Galapagos Islands or thermocline temps you encounter diving the Sea of Cortez, off Baja California, Mexico.    Water temps are definitely warmer than Northern California temps.  Advanced dive skill level is recommended for diving anywhere off the Pacific Coast.  If you are a diver limiting your dive experiences to warm-water destinations, you have no idea what you are missing.  In cold water, you can see and experience underwater life that you will never find in warm water.
