Once again, you have the opportunity to discover (or re-discover) Andy’s Florida with Andy himself. South Florida diving – if you know where to dive – offers arguably the most diverse dive opportunities in the world. Andy should know. After visiting dive sites all over the world, his favorite destination remains South Florida where he spent 34 years prior to moving to California. Schools of fish, natural reefs and WRECKS. Add warm-water. You can’t ask for more! This trip is Spring Break for adults. Hopefully the novice kid partiers will have left Fort Lauderdale by the time we experienced partiers arrive.

For this trip, the SWS trip package includes trip escorts, lodging and diving only. You are free to make your own flight and rental car arrangements. I recommend you purchase your airline tickets as soon as possible. Andy and I are booked on American Airlines out of Sacramento departing 22APR06, Saturday, flight 1174 at 6:07 AM, arriving Fort Lauderdale at 5:02 PM and have our rental car reserved with Dollar Rent A Car . Our return flight on American is 02May06, Tuesday, flight 1083 departing Fort Lauderdale at 2:13 PM, arriving Sacramento at 8:08 PM - Our rental car is with Dollar Rent A Car. (If you are retuning home after the above one-week trip package, your return flight would be on Saturday, April 29th.) This information provided for your convenience if you wish us to lead you up to the resort upon arrival. Otherwise, we will see you Saturday night at Sands Harbor. You will also be able to spend as little or as much as you want on food while on this vacation. The hotel has a couple of restaurants and there are inexpensive eateries close by. If you want to splurge and enjoy the ambience of South Florida, we know the best places.

This class is limited to 16 divers who have all their requisite certifications prior to the trip. You must have your Advanced and Deep Diver Specialty Certs. Books, cert card and any additional afternoon boat dives which may be needed to complete the course will be extra. TRIP RESERVATION REQUIREMENTS: Full payment required to SWS to reserve your space. A $50 admin. fee will be charged if you cancel for any reason. What, When, Where:
Depart Sands Harbor Hotel early Friday morning, April 28th, caravan down to the Keys in order to make our appointment to dive one of the famous wrecks in Key Largo. After the 2-tank boat wreck dive, continue on down to KEY WEST where we will spend 3 nights at the Key Ambassador Resort. 4 days/three nights will give you plenty of time to explore Key West with the experts = Andy and Lynn! Shop, visit Mel Fisher’s Museum, bar hop or settle down in Sloppy Joes, taste an authentic Cuban Majito that tastes nothing like what passes for a Majito on the West Coast. Catch sunset at Mallory Square, then choose from a number of our favorite fine restaurants where you can gorge yourself on conch (pronounce “conk” if you don’t want to sound like an ignorant outsider! Ha!) fritters or other Key West delectables – Key Lime Pie, anyone? Experience Café Cubano coffee first thing in the morning and you will never be the same. Veg out at the beach, laze around the pool or get crazy and party ‘til dawn – whatever floats your boat.
Andy plans on doing at least a morning additional diving from our Key West base. It will be possible to dive both Saturday and Sunday if you want to. Once we have the numbers of you who want to do these additional dives, we will make reservations with a dive operator so we do not get shut out. We will be in Key West over a week-end and it is still high season so we cannot wait until we get there to reserve diving.
Monday morning, May 1st, we caravan back up to the Sands Harbor Resort and Marina in Pompano Beach to spend our last night (which will already be paid for in our original 7-night trip package). We will stop along the way to visit Andy's favorite watering holes and see the sights. Andy and I fly home from Fort Lauderdale Airport, Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006.

Keys Lodging: I have reserved rooms for us as follows:
All prices are per ROOM, double or single occupancy, including tax for the full 3-night stay. Cost of ROOM, one or two persons for the total 3-night package:
Standard = $465 (currently sold out).
Harbor View = $499.
Pool View Rooms = $566.
Deluxe Full Ocean View Room = $633. All rooms are subject to availability at time you make your trip deposit and request the add-on.
Keys Diving:
Key Largo Wreck Dive = $80 including tanks, weights, fuel surcharge and tax for 2-tank boat dive to Spiegel Grove Wreck. Nitrox slightly higher. Be sure to request the Nitrox when reserving the add-on.
Optional Additional Dive Days in Key West: You can plan on about $80 per dive day for a 2 or 3-tank boat dive including tanks, weights, fuel surcharge and taxes - Nitrox extra. Ask Andy if you have any questions concerning the type of diving you can expect in Key West.
All Key West add-on pre-reserved lodging and diving charges will be added to your SWS trip package price and collected as part of your final balance due Feb 1st.
Remember, when budgeting for the add-on: meals, vehicle rental, gas, TIPS are out-of-pocket trip expense.
